With over 30 years experience in dance education, 20 years in professional bodywork, and 15 years as a student of yoga, Dorie is grateful for to continue to touch lives through dance, the performing arts, therapeutic massage & yoga.
DANCE. She began her dance education here in South Florida at the Dance Academy of Deerfield Beach and the Dillard High School of Performing Arts, studying under Janet Mathie, Luanne Lavoy and Debbi Dee. Moving to New York, she continued her education at STEPS, studying with Susie Taylor, Joe Lanteri and Michelle Assaf, but on the whole was inspired by the works of Douglas Caldwell. Professionally, Dorie has instructed dance programs and performance companies at studios in New York and Florida. She has performed worldwide with Norwegian and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines as a featured performer and is also grateful for a successful career on stage in Florida regional musical theater.
In 2004, she opened Dance Arts Conservatory Center for the Performing Arts in Wellington, Florida with her husband Rocky Duvall. Their combined artistic visions continue to create a diverse dance program from which their students emerge with a powerfully rounded dance experience. Committed to bringing the arts to the community, they co-founded Wellington Ballet Theatre in 2011, a nonprofit 501(c)3 company and charitable organization providing cultural enrichment through the art of classical dance and innovative performance. In 2015 they continued to develop their artistic programming and launched "Broadway Stars" a musical theater program in which students are emerged in the art of performing Broadway musicals through the teaching of professional directors, musical directors and choreographers. In 2018, they re-launched the charitable organization as “Wellington Community Theatre” to serve as a non-profit company that encompasses the works of Wellington Ballet Theatre and Broadway Stars. Through the ongoing work of Wellington Community Theatre, the Duvall’s produce over 10(+) staged theater works annually, and also bring many artistic dance productions to local stages through their Momentum Dance Company, Wellington Ballet Theatre and Broadway Stars community performances. Amid all of the action, Dorie continues to teach dance at the studio, manage website and program design, and serve as the Director of Wardrobe for their performing companies. She is a professional member Actors Equity Association and Dance Educators of America.
MASSAGE & BODYWORK. Since 1998, Dorie has been providing Therapeutic Massage and specializing in Traditional Thai bodywork serving Wellington, Boca Raton, and the Palm Beaches. She completed her initial training at the Florida College of Natural Health in Pompano, FL completing their 900-hour Advanced Soft Tissue Therapeutics program and graduating with the “Golden Hands Award”. She is a Certified Thai Massage Practitioner with a Teacher Training degree in Nuad Bo-Rarn Thai Massage from the school of International Training Massage (ITM) in Chaing Mai, Thailand studying under Master Teacher Chongkol Settakorn in 2000. Her additional Thai studies include Traditional Thai Massage at the Foundation of Moh Shivagakomarpaj Buntautuk Tradit, Hospital Northern Province (Traditional Medicine Hospital) in Chaing Mai, Thailand with master teacher ‘Sutat’, and here in America, under Master Teacher Margie Meshew, in Traditional Thai, Swe Thai, Table Top Thai, and Thai Foot Massage. Dorie (Doreen Duvall MA-26690) is a Florida Licensed Massage Therapist and is certified through the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork.
Dorie’s journey through professional dance, theater, and therapeutic massage lead her to yoga. She has been a student of Yoga for over 15 years studying with Patsy Finger, Linda Lazarus and Rob MacGregor. In 2018 she earned her Teacher Training Certification with American Yoga, in Deerfield Beach, FL under the direction of Monica Schmit. She looks forward to continuing her yoga journey, now as a teacher and practitioner, offering classes in Vinyasa Yoga, Thai Yoga Press & Stretch classes, and Children’s Yoga. She is certified through Yoga Alliance, as a Registered Yoga Teacher, RYT-200.
Dorie lives in Wellington, FL with her husband and three beautiful children. She teaches dance and yoga at Dance Arts Conservatory Center for the Performing Arts and provides therapeutic massage, Traditional Thai Yoga Massage and private yoga instruction. She believes that each day is a gift and looks forward to serving her community and sharing her joy of life through her work.
